Dan A. Muenzel

Dan A. Muenzel, 66, of Brownsville passed away on Monday, February 24. Dan was born August 13,  1953 in Kenmore, New York to Alan Edger and Betty (Thorn) Muenzel. Dan’s Mom passed away when he was 16. He adored his Mom and would tell many stories of them cooking together and the family going to get maple syrup and candies with the three kids riding in the back seat. That was Dan-the love of family and doing things together.
Dan graduated with honors from Sweet Home Central High School located in Tonawanda, New  York. He continued his education in appliance repair and began his career with Sears. He then moved to the Orlando area where he spent 35 years before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah and transferring to the Brownsville Office of National Electric Coil (NEC) in 2008. Dan was employed by NEC for many years. Prior to the last eight years as a Project Coordinator, he was a high voltage generator repairman specialist. He repaired high voltage generators powering huge dams in several countries including South America, South Korea and several others. Dan loved music of all kinds but especiallv UB40 and Charlie Landsborough. His other love was computers. He, with Derrick’s help, built a 16-Core liquid cooled computer which runs the computer through the television. Dan is survived by his wife Shirley. One son Derek (Theresa), one daughter Vikki (Jason) Reeves, three grandsons Andrew, Dannick and Brody and one granddaughter Kaylee. Also, one brother  Alan (Evelyne) and one sister Sandra Horan. He is survived by five step-daughters Gayla (Ken) Sessa, Alicia (Darren) Petty, Staci (Jerry) Carroll, Kathy (Robert) Evensen and Rhonda McCollough (Duane Soride). One step-son Derrick and grandson Cohen. 
He was preceded in death by his parents,Betty Thorn and Alan Muenzel. 

A memorial service will from be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Located at 657 Springmart Blvd. Brownsville, TX 78526.

    I am still in shock. Way too young. Dan was a great friend for over forty years. Our sincerest sympathies to the family!
