Agustina R. Macias

Agustina R. Macias, 86, of Los Fresnos, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Agustina was born on May 28, 1933 in Acatlán, Hidalgo, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Macias Hernandez, a husband of 70 years, her parents, Jose Cruz Ramirez and Guadalupe Ortiz.

Agustina, besides being a devoted wife and mother of eleven children, will be remembered for her deep love for God, and as a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.  Born in Mexico, Agustina was a courageous child that lived a hard life where working at a young age was required to survive.  As a brave visionary, she moved from a small village close to Mexico City to a Texas-Mexico border town where she met the love of her life, Jose Macias. Together they worked long hours and raised their children with the goal of providing a better life and education in America.  The values and examples she passed to her children produced highly responsible and dedicated professionals. Agustina’s primary love was being with her large and growing family, showering them with her unique and incomparable love.  She cherished her godchildren and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, many whom she helped raise.  She enjoyed sharing many personal stories with them which provided meaningful life lessons and advice.  Her passions in life included first and foremost daily prayer morning and night, cooking homemade Mexican meals for her family, spending time sewing, caring for her many pets, enjoying adventurous travel and most of all, tending to her colorful garden which she loved to plant, water, and care for daily.  In the many years she lived in Los Fresnos, she was known as a kind friend and neighbor to many in the community.  Agustina leaves behind a great legacy. The Macias family will remember her as their rock and foundation and will miss her immensely.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Guadalupe (Juan) Cabrera, Maria (Fortino) Pañola, Teresa (Eleno) Lopez, Delia (Jose Jr.) Muñoz, Bonifacio (Linda) Macias, Rosalva (David) Alsup, Jose Cruz (Diana) Macias, Esmeralda (Eloy) Galvan, Ilda (Edward) Wright, Jesus (Jackie) Macias and Inez (Tomas Jr.) Amaro; twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren; one older sister, Cira Dominga Ramirez.
