Hilario “Larry†Garcia, 47, of Brownsville, TX went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Hilario was born in Chicago Heights, IL on October 10, 1972 to Josefa Salinas Garcia and Jose Ledezma Garcia.

Hilario “Larry†was an amazing son, brother, uncle, friend and coach. Coach “Larry†loved the Dallas Cowboys and his passion was coaching kickball at the East Brownsville Little Miss Kickball where he coached for over 29 years. He served as a board member of the LMK for over 20 years, 10 years as 2nd VP and 5 years as District V President. He coached over 100 players not only to be able to use their skills on the kickball fields but to use for any sport and for life in general. He taught life lessons that could be carried for generations to come. Larry was one of the go-to guy with numerous questions and talks because of all of his knowledge of kickball, from rules to plays to strategic plays. He was smart, very knowledgeable, funny and witty. He was also a holder of 9 All-Star State titles. Larry also created and founded 10 years ago the Morningside Adult Kickball Association (M.A.K.A.). He is now coaching angels in Heaven smiling down on all his family and friends. Rest in Peace Coach Larry.  

He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Ledezma Garcia and his nephew, Jayden Lee Garcia.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Josefa Salinas Garcia; two sisters, Celina Garcia and Carolina Garcia (Esteban) Rios; one brother, Jose (Juanita)Garcia Jr.; one nephew, Guadalupe Castro III; two nieces, Genevieve Garcia and Venisha Marie Colon and His Little Miss Kickball family.  He will be greatly missed but his memory will live on forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 09, 2020 from 1 to 9 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2 PM at St. Luke Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory-Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville. (956) 350-8485
