Virginia “Vicky” Mercado Valadez

Virginia “Vicky†Mercado Valadez, 75, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her father Jose Mercado Romo.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother Jesusa Guzman de Mercado; her husband Cristobal R. Valadez; children Gerardo “Jerry†(Eva) Valadez, Cristobal “Cris†(Melissa) Valadez, Jr., Imelda Gabriella Valadez, Sandra Virginia (John) Ebel, Luis Valadez; siblings Ruben (Rosa) Mercado, Jose Angel (Carmen) Mercado, Daniel (Beatriz) Mercado, Margarita (Francisco) Guevara, Alma (Rufino) Quintanilla, Ana Maria Torres, Leticia (Vinicio) Alvarado, and Maria de Jesus Mercado; grandchildren Cristobal III, Cristian Raymundo, Eros Sebastian, Ramsey, Jose Gerardo, Jacob, and Ryan Valadez. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. She was a loyal, devoted wife and fiercely protective mother. She was also a loving and indulgent grandmother. Mrs. Valadez was an outstanding self-taught cook of fine cuisine, passionate gardener and a world traveler. She was also a semi pro gambler and was known to be sophisticated and a stylish trendsetter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1 to 9PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park at 3 PM. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory-Flower Shop. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville. (956) 350-8485
