Rafael Vazquez, 76 of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Rafael was born on February 20, 1943 in Curias, Tamaulipas, moved to San Fernando, where he met and married his wife Francisca Garcia. Shortly afterwards they moved to Brownsville, TX looking for a better life for their 4 sons and generations to come.
Rafael and Francisca were blessed with 54 years of marriage and now leaves behind his wife and sons Jaime (Belinda), Joel (Hilda), Francisco (Valentina ex-wife Josie), and Carlos (Jessica).
His pride were his 16 grandchildren Edward (Natalie), Joyce, Kevin, Jennifer (Ignacio), Juan Carlos Jr., Crystal, Kimberly, Kassandra, Francisco Jr., Jacquelyn, Samantha, Vanessa, Xavier, Emmanuel, Fabian, and Damian. He was also blessed with 6 greatÂ-grandchildren Ethan, Kateleen, Efren, Nolan, Aaliyah and Adrian.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 1-9 p.m. with a prayer service from 7-8 p.m. led by Francisco Rada of Northside Iglesia de Cristo.
On Thursday, July 11, 2019, visitation will begin at 9:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home located at 657 Springmat Blvd in Brownsville, Texas. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren as follows Edward, Kevin. Jennifer, Juan Carlos Jr., Francisco Jr., Jacquelyn, Samantha, and Xavier.
