Lee Roy Norman

Lee Roy Norman, 75, of Lapeer, MI left this earth for his home in heaven, February 21, 2019 in Brownsville, Texas. He was born April 24, 1943 to Raymond Lee and Winnifred E. Norman in Pontiac, MI. He started at Bob Jones Academy, Greenville, SC in 7th grade and graduated from high school there in 1962. Directly out of high school he started to work for General Motors. He faithfully performed his duties in Pontiac and Lake Orion for over 40 years retiring in 2004. He served in Korea in the U.S. Army and was honorable discharged in 1970. He married Carole Freeberg in Crystal, MN in 1967 so in 2017 they celebrated 50 years together.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmom Marian Norman; siblings Bill, Jean Norman, and Bob Crites. He is survived by his wife Carole; brother Andy Norman of Plant City, FL and his sister in law Joyce Shaw of Cambridge, MN; children Nate (Vonda) Norman of Logan, UT, Lisa (Lance) Strayer of Clarkston, MI, Troy (Sheilah) Norman of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren Bianca (Eric) Malouf, Nevin, Mya Strayer, Olivia and Alexis Norman; great grandson, Jaxon Malouf, and many nieces and nephews. Lee was a true country boy and loved anything having to do with farming. He loved auctions and all things that had wheels, working on them and collecting them. He enjoyed camping and his property “up north”. He liked hunting and fishing. He liked to read and watch movies, mostly western. Most of all he enjoyed being with the kids and grandkids, watching their activities, trips, holidays and birthdays. He and Carole were able to spend part of 16 winters in Texas. He enjoyed being with his friend of 62 years, Jack, and assisting him in what needed to be done for his mission work. He enjoyed warm weather, his hammock, the beach, and trips into Mexico. Anyone who has spent time with Lee will probably remember him. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.

I will miss my brother in law but am so excited that he is celebrating in heaven with his Lord Jesus Christ! He loved reading as did I and enjoyed those westerns on TV. I will remember motorcycles, waterskiing(ouch the sunburn!), Skipbo,a very special coffee mug ,triple berry pie – I could go on and on. Love you Lee! Keep the coffee pot on and I will try to bring the donuts when I see you again! Prayers to Carole, Nate and Vonda, Lisa and Lance, Sheilah and Troy, and all the grandchildren.

My deepest sympathy to and your family in Lee’s passing. At times like this I find the words to the song Finally Home going thru my mind ~ Just think of stepping on shore and finding it Heaven, of touching a hand and finding it God’s , of breathing new air and finding it celestial, of waking up in Glory and finding it home. My prayers for you in this time. Val VanDyke and Nels Jorgensen
