Tomasa R. Chavez, 88, passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Tomasita, as she was lovingly known, was born on September 22, 1929 in Monterrey, NL Mexico to Mr. Simon Ramirez & Mrs. Dolores G. Va. De Ramirez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Pedro Chavez Davila; her sister Margarita Ramirez Guerrero, and her brother Porfirio Ramirez. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her children: Alejandra Davila, Jesus H. Chavez, Adrian Chavez, Adriana Chavez, Pedro Chavez, Jr., Arturo Chavez; her sisters Mrs. San Juana Ramirez de Lopez, Mrs. Cecilia de Ramirez de Escamilla; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; & 7 great, great grandchildren. Mrs. Chavez was a loving mother, a community volunteer and was always looking for ways to assist the needy in her neighborhood. She also loved her hobbies of growing plants and cooking, well known for her delicious tamales throughout Brownsville.
Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10: 00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honored to be Mrs. Tomasa R. Chavez’ pallbearers are George Davila, Jr., Moises Davila, Andrew Chavez, Ryan Chavez, Antonio Garza, & Erik Chavez. I remember Mrs. Chavez when she would attend the class programs @ Cromack elementary back in the 1960’s. She was a very sweet parent w/ a beautiful and friendly smile towards children. She touched the lives of children and adults with her kindness.
My deepest condolences to the family for your great loss. May she rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
