Amelia C. Saldana, 75 of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, entered in to eternal rest on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
Amelia is preceded in the death by her parents Manuel Cortez and Guadalupe Estrada, a daughter Celia and granddaughter April M. Alanis.

Known to many as Amy, she was an amazing person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She had a beautiful smile and was kind and loving to all she knew. Ready to lend a hand, she always was eager to help never expecting anything in return. Her love and dedication to her family was a true testament of who she was. You could always count on her for her famous arroz, a mouthwatering chile, delicious menudo and many other family favorites. She loved fishing and spending time at the beach. She enjoyed playing her maquinitas, “we’re there dude,†traveled to many places and made some wonderful friends. Amy loved flowers and could turn a simple vase or wreath into gorgeous arrangements. Many of her friends and family always turned to her for the holidays to help decorate their homes. She was also an employee of BISD for over 28 years where she formed many lifelong friendships with students and faculty. Our family has lost a tremendous beautiful soul and will surely be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.
