Primitiva C. Garza, 73 of Brownsville, TX, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 9, 1945. 

She is preceded in death by parents Benito G. Castorena and Natalia M. Castorena, spouse Enrique Garza, and brother Benito Castorena Jr.  

Left to cherish her memory is her children Juan De Dios (Cynthia M.) Garza, Gracie (Martin) Zapata, Sandra (Joe) Alcantara, Jose A. (Mari) Garza, Maria Del Rosario (Antonio) Gomez, Enrique Jr (Mary Ann) Garza; grandchildren Eloy Becerra Jr, Cynthia Garza, Morris Garza, Yesenia Zapata, Yadira Zapata, Bianca L. (William) Hayes, Krista N. Alcantara, Bethany A. Alcantara, Korina A. Alcantara, Joe Garza, Roxanna Garza, Antonio Gomez Jr, Juan E. Gomez, and Sofia Garza; great-grandchildren Gabriel M. Hayes and Holly A. Hayes; nieces and Nephew Isuara Castorena, Joby Castorena, and Benito III Castorena.  

Primitiva was a humble and caring woman, she was a dedicated and active member of her church. She got along and spoke to anyone who would cross her path. She spent most of her time at her house in her garden and spent the weekends at the mall catching up with friends. She cared for her family endlessly and made sure they were happy and safe. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Steve Doorman from First Baptist Church will be conducting the service on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers will be Juan D.D. Garza, Cynthia Garza, Eloy Becerra Jr., Antonio Gomez Jr., Juan E. Gomez, Morris Garza and Joe Alcantara.
