David Gilberto Balderas


David Gilberto Balderas, 75, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Sunshine Haven surrounded by loving family. He was born in Silao Guanajuato, Mexico on December 26, 1942.

He is preceded in death by Parents, Fernando and Sofia Balderas and his siblings Luis Balderas and Maria del Carmen Balderas.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Zorina Cardenas Balderas; children Alma Solis (Steve), Georgina (Tommy) Bustamante, Zorina Marks, and John David (Natalie) Balderas; siblings Carlos Balderas, and Santa Haley; grandchildren Ryan Barron, Steve Solis, Alyssa (Michael) Compton, Amanda and Ariana Bustamante, Zachary Marks.

David was a humble, caring and generous member of our Brownsville community for over 50 years and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Our father was a loving, supportive, dedicated and a spiritual person who as also known to many as a loyal and special friend. He role modeled a dependable hard work ethic and persisted in being a lifelong learner his entire life. Under all circumstances he managed to consistently wear a smile that convinced others all was always well with his soul. We will forever miss him but are certain we will all be together again.


Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
