Carlos Tapia Guerra

Carlos Tapia Guerra of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family at Valley Regional Medical Center on July 5, 2018.
He was born on September 1, 1951 to Alonzo Guerra and Felicita Tapia, who preceded him in death, in addition to his brothers, Frank, Alonso Guerra, and brother in law Mario Ruben Villarreal Jr. Carlos was the epitome of a family man, and his positive attitude and larger than life personality was magnetic to everyone in his presence. Carlos’ many health ailments never held him back from doing the things he loved, such as hunting, fishing, going to the beach, or watching the Dallas Cowboys with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish memory is his spouse Olga Leal; children Rick (Vanessa) Villarreal, Felicia “Lala†Guerra, Andre Lozano, and Michelle (Jorge) Rodriguez; grandchildren Mia Bella Villarreal, Lexie and Iker Rodriguez; nieces and nephews Marky Villarreal, Mario Ruben Villarreal III, Damian, Monica Galvan, Layla Trevino, Alex Leal, and Juan Duran; brother Rudy Guerra, in addition to his beloved bird Charlie.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with services concluding. Pallbearers are Rick, Marky Villarreal, Andre Lozano, Juan Duran, Pedro Pena, and Alex Leal. Honorary pallbearers are Mario Ruben Villarreal III and Jorge Rodriguez.
