Ricardo “Rick†Gomez Jr., 64, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord, on June 3, 2018, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, surrounded by loving family.
He was born in Brownsville, TX, on December 27, 1953. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo Sr. and Apolonia Gomez. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Mary Yvonne Gomez, his children, Patrick(Becky), Ricardo Adan(Diana), Matthew Paul and Lucas Ben. Also surviving are his siblings, Paula Gomez, and Tomas A. (Graciela) Gomez., along with his grandchildren, Pablo, Camila, Oziel, Cesar, Layla, Brianna Alondra, Ricardo Andres, and Nicholas Anton. Rick worked at the Port of Brownsville for many years. He loved nature, music, playing his guitar and his beloved Cowboys. He was an avid reader of history, had a photographic memory, great wit, and had a knack for natural science.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at San Pedro Catholic Church with burial to follow to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Pedro Catholic Church.
