Alfredo “Alfred” Sosa


Alfredo “Alfred” Sosa, 56, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. He was born on June 6, 1961 in Bay City, Texas and resided most of his life in Brownsville, Texas. He attended Homer Hanna High School and received an associate degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville. He served his country in the United States Army in 1982. He is preceded in death by his brother Roy Sosa (1990), step-father, Natividad Castillo, Sr. (1997) and father Juan Sosa (2018).
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cristela Lopez Sosa and their three children, Cristela Aissa Sosa- Cantu (Jesus), Corissa Sosa (Lorenzo Flores), and Roy Sosa II (Jasmin Torrez), three grandchildren, Maritza Cantu, Aiden Edward Flores and Alyssa Itzel Cantu. His mother, Petra Castillo, brothers, Juan (Cecilia), Fernando (Letty), Robert (Teresa), Saul (Beatriz), Edward (Joyce), Natividad (Jennifer) and three sisters, Maria Teresa Guerra (Manuel), Cathy C. Gonzalez (Mark) and Graciela Sanchez (Luis) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted Catholic and a man of great faith. He was a member of the International Order of Alhambra Organization, Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed hosting family and friend events and his priority in life was family unity and helping others. He always had a positive outlook on life and impacted the lives of so many. Alfredo is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a presentation of the Alhambra at 6:30 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
