Shelia Lee Sitton

Shelia Koiner Sitton
March 23, 1940 – March 13, 2018
Absent in the Body, At Home with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8-9)

Shelia Lee Sitton, 77, was a devoted mother, MawMaw, sister, aunt and friend to so many. Surrounded by several family members and friends, she entered into the presence and eternal rest of Jesus Christ on March 13, 2018, in Los Fresnos, Texas.

Shelia was born in Denton, Texas on March 23, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents, Orme Lee Koiner (1976) and Iris Naomi Koiner (1991); brothers, Martin Emory Koiner (1948), Thomas James Koiner (2009); granddaughter Makayla Joy Sitton (2009) and niece Savannah Koiner (2002).

Those left to love and cherish her memory include her brother, Robert (Bob) Wilson Koiner; two sons, David (Tommi) Sitton and Jim (Muriel) Sitton; grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Sitton, Joshua Sitton, Barbara (Waylon) Miesell, Jimmy (Ashley) Sitton, Natalia Sitton and Rayla Sitton; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Emily, Hannah, Jaxon, Jude, and Avonlea.

Mom retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in July 1994, after twenty-five years of service. She lived out one of her dreams by moving to Branson, MO where she briefly worked in the Anita Bryant and Shoji Tobuchi music theaters.

Until her health declined, she worked with us on numerous short-term mission trips in northern Mexico as we preached the gospel, built small houses for the poor and distributed food and clothing at orphanages and in the poorest settlements (colonias) in Matamoros, Mexico.

Mom’s primary love was reserved for the Lord and for her family. Beyond that, she loved bluebonnets, Dr. Pepper (“nectar of the godsâ€, as she called it) and John Wayne movies.

My brother Jim and I, on behalf of all our family, want to invite you to join us in worship to God and in celebration of our mom’s amazing life:

Memorial / Celebration Service:
March 24, 2018
10:00 AM – 12 Noon
Los Fresnos Church of Christ
111 W, 5th Street
Los Fresnos, Texas

There will be a light lunch provided following the service. For our planning purposes, please advise us in advance if you plan to attend her memorial / lunch.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Kindred Hospice, especially RN Vanessa, CNA’s Sylvia, Yolanda, Natalia, and my mom’s previous Home Health CNA, Esther.

This is not a death notice. It is a celebration of a life well-lived and the heavenly home-going of our Mom and MawMaw, Shelia Sitton. Though she endured painful health challenges during her final years, she never wavered from her faith and joy in Christ and the sure hope of the gospel;

“I (Jesus) am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live,
even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
Do you believe this?†John 11:25-26

Our mom believed in Christ with all of her heart and is more alive now than she has ever been!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Makayla Joy Sitton Foundation, a charity dear to Mom’s heart.

Our sweet and loving Shelia is in heaven and without pain but the thought of not hearing her voice on the phone and her laughter pains me.
