It is with heavy hearts that the family of Juan Babiak Rendon, age 83, announce his passing on Wednesday, Feb 7, 2018. Juan was born September 7, 1934 to Franciszyk Babiak and Maria de la Luz Rendon Babiak in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Graciela Duarte, Ernestina Wolters Babiak, Juanita Babiak and sister-in-law Vicky Babiak.
On August 28, 1958 he married the love of his life, Irma Babiak (nee Peralta). They enjoyed a near 60 years of happy marriage. Juan was always very active and enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities, especially gardening and fishing, all pastimes he shared with his family and friends, of which he had many. He also greatly enjoyed discussing politics and current events with friends, over morning coffee. He was a successful businessman, known for his skill at turning around companies. Mr. Babiak is well remembered for his leadership in such local Brownsville businesses as Three Sisters, Feders and Los 4 Reyes, before his retirement. In addition to his work, he and his wife, Irma, had the honor of serving multiple years as St. Joseph Academy Advisory Board members.
Juan is survived by his wife, Irma Babiak and his son, Juan Babiak, Jr. of Hilo, Hawaii and his two daughters and their spouses, Irma (Sam) Gavito of Harlingen, Texas and Adriana (Luis) Vazquez of Houston, Texas. In addition, he is survived by his brothers and their spouses, Pedro (Carmen) Babiak of Atlanta, Georgia, Frank (Julia) Babiak of Kona, Hawaii, Fernando (Elva) Babiak of Laredo, Texas and Javier Babiak of San Antonio, Texas, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Roberto (Diana) Guzman of Matamoros, Tamps, Mexico, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States, Mexico and Poland.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:00 p.m. and a chapel service at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
