Jeffrey Alan Lewis entered into eternal rest on Sept. 1, 2017 at Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness with his loving family at his side. Jeff was born in Brownsville on May 5, 1962 and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduated from St. Joseph Academy and went on to pursue his passion for coaching at Stephen F. Austin University and University of Brownsville Texas Southmost College. “Coach Lewisâ€, as he was known by all, coached at public and private Brownsville schools. His career transitioned in real estate being affiliated with Cardenas Development, Keller Williams, and Icon Reality.

He is preceded in death by his father Stephen W Lewis in 2015. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Alina Christina Lewis, stepdaughter Amanda Valdez, mother Ellen Lewis Snodgrass, brother Steve Lewis, sister Cary Lewis Acevedo, and extended family Sammy Snodgrass, Christi Snodgrass, and Jack Snodgrass. Celebration of Life service will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Monday Sept 4 at 2PM. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Cardenas, Rene Cardenas, Les Gloor, Dr. Karen Brooks, along with his “Brothers†from the Charro Days Beard Posse- Wesley Reed, Joe Kenney, Leo Trevino, Raul de la Llata, Mike Pashos, Rusty Harwood, Doroteo Garcia, Pancho Parker, Narciso Cortez, Johnny Champion, Joe Lee Rubio, Tiny Barrientes, Bean Ayala, Craig Grove, Lloyd Young, Will Putegnat, Danny Loff, Bobby Walker, Javier Garcia, and Mike Garcia.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Liver Foundation or to an organization of your choice. A private family burial will be held prior to service. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, TX. (956) 350-8485

    My dear sweet friend, Ellen, and family,

    We sent our thoughts, prayers, and hugs to you all. I would be right there to give you all hugs; but still in Michigan. I will say extra prayers for you all on Sept.4th. Son Jeff; Brother Jeff; Father Jeff; Friend Jeff; and Coach Jeff is resting peaceful now. He will be missed by many.

    My sympathy goes out to family and friends. Jeff was a very joyful person with a way of making those around him laugh and smile. From St Mary’s through years at St Joe, there are many fond memories of him.

    Jeff, “Coach”, it was always so good seeing you around town. I’ll never forget when you coached my son’s first baseball team in tea ball.(The Braves) My son John Matthew is now 13 years of age.
