Mr. Jorge “George†Luis Cortez, 58, of Olmito, Texas passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. Jorge was born on June 13, 1959 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Manuel and Amelia L. Cortez. Jorge loved the outdoors and was often seen enjoying mud and car races. He was a well-known mechanic and loved by many. He is preceded in death by his father Manuel Cortez Sr. and his brother Rolando Cortez. Jorge is survived by his mother Amelia L. Cortez; brothers Manuel Jr. and Ramiro Cortez; two daughters Jackie (David Jr.) Burlingame and Jenny (Arturo) Espinoza; four grandchildren Sylvia, David III Burlingame, Alezandro and Andres Espinoza, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 2, 2017 from 1-9 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at  Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Mass will be held on July 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in  Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the end of the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers the family asks that plants or keepsakes be sent. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, Texas. Estimada familia Cortez. Nada es comparable al profundo dolor de perder a un ser querido. Se siente un vacio y una tristeza muy grande pero podemos encontrar consuelo en el mensaje de la biblia. El salmista imploro a Dios: “Sirva tu bondad amorosa por favor, para consolarme” (Sal. 119:76). Una manera muy destacada como nuestro Padre celestial nos conforta es dandonos animo y guia. El Salmo 119:105 dice que su palabra es una lampara y una luz que ilumina nuestro camino. Le animamos a encontrar consuelo en el mensaje de la biblia.
