Ignacio Torteya Valdez, 80, has entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Torteya Soto and Rebecca Valdez LaPierre, and his daughter, Alicia Torteya Maklouf. Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 52 years, Alicia Marin de Torteya; his daughter, Marcela (Jorge) Velarde, his son, Judge Ignacio (Diana) Torteya, III; his daughter, Marissa Torteya; his grandchildren: Marcela, Regina and Arantxa Velarde; Diana, Brenda, Rebecca and Valeria Torteya; and Alejandro, Marissa, Ivanna, Romina and Alana Tamayo; his siblings: Yolanda T. Urtusastegui, Alicia T. Viada and Hugo (Arely) Torteya; and his nieces and nephews.
The Torteya family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jose Luis Ayala and his staff, Dr. Jesus Roberto Ortiz, and Superior Hospice for their care and attention.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017.

Estimada familia Valdez. Nada es comparable al profundo dolor de perder a un ser querido. Se siente un vacio y una tristeza muy grande pero podemos encontrar consuelo en el mensaje de la biblia. El salmista imploro a Dios: “Sirva tu bondad amorosa por favor, para consolarme” (Sal. 119:76). Una manera muy destacada como nuestro Padre celestial nos conforta es dandonos animo y guia. El Salmo 119:105 dice que su palabra es una lampara y una luz que ilumina nuestro camino. Le animamos a encontrar consuelo en el mensaje de la biblia.
