Maria Alicia Almeida


Maria Alicia Almeida, 91, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest on June 1, 2017 at her residence surrounded by loving family. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on February 14, 1926.

She is preceded in death by her parents Santos Almeida and Barbarita Gonzalez; husband Jack Syn Jew; and her sister Manuela Serrata.

Left to cherish her memory is her son John Robert (Laura) Jew, 4 grandchildren John R. Jew Jr., Jasmine Jew, Jack E. Jew, and Allison Jew; siblings Margarita Rodriguez, Magdalena Lopez, Abelardo Almeida and Matilde.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. There will be a funeral mass held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. (956) 350-8485

    Estimada familia Almeida. Mi mas sentido pesame. La muerte de un ser querido es uno de los golpes mas grandes que experimenta la familia y amigos intimos. No hay duda que durante esos tiempos tristes y dificiles, todos necesitamos consuelo. La biblia dice que nuestro creador es el “Dios de todo consuelo”. En 2 Corintios 1:4 dice que el nos consuela “para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que se hallan en cualquier clase de tribulacion”. Nos quiere tanto que nos promete una resurreccion en Juan 5:28,29. Queria compartir este mensaje de consuelo con su familia.
