Maria Pilar de los Santos, 80, of Brownsville TX, passed away on February 17, 2017, with her family by her side. “Mary,†the daughter of Roman and Aurora Garcia †, was born on September 8, 1936 in Matamoros, Mexico. She married Alfredo de Los Santos Jr. from El Ranchito, San Benito in 1959. She began her teaching career in 1973 and retired from James Pace High School in 2001. Mary was vivacious, talkative, and a lover of baseball, soccer and her novelas. Baseball was her real passion, she knew all the stats, including who was in a slump and who was hot. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and friend; caring very much for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; her husband Alfredo Jr. and her son Alfredo De Los Santos III (Lydia). She is survived by her sisters Odelia Gonzalez (Robert), Josie Casey (Bill) and Ellie Cole (Mike); her children, Roxann Mills (Robert), Deborah Ceballos (Raymundo†) and Ronald De Los Santos (Maria); eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a strong and wonderful woman and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A private memorial service was held in her honor to celebrate her life.
