Bernadette Richardson

Bernadette Richardson, passed away on February 9, 2017 in Brownsville, Texas. She is survived by her mother Elena Richardson, 3 sisters Sylvia R. (Sam) Martinez, Christine Richardson, and Ellen (David) Liska; and 6 brothers Harry, Robert, Edward (Carol), Hector (Beatrice), Samuel (Odie), and John Richardson. She graduated from Porter High School and attended the University of Texas at Brownsville. Bernadette was a master hairstylist and colorist. Bernadette’s passion was her creativity and artistic abilities that were instilled in her nieces. Christmas was always a special occasion because she was so giving. She was the care giver for her mother and gave selflessly and lovingly of herself. She was a true example of a beautiful spirit with a servant’s heart. Her last words to each of us, as we parted, were always, “I Love Youâ€. She will be missed by those who truly knew her. We find comfort in knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her father Harry Richardson. According to Bernie’s wishes private services were held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville, TX 78520.

    To the family of Bernadette-

So long ago, I remember meeting Bernadette through our mutual friend Joy when we were teenagers. She was so pretty and I was drawn to her friendly and warm personality. I would then see her through-out the years at a Brownsville local restaurant or at the Harlingen Mall. She was the same pretty kind hearted person.
I was sadden to hear of her passing, but know our paths will cross again someday.
God give you strength during this difficult time.

Bernie was my best friend in high school. We did everything together, from cheerleading to one-act play to choir. We even dated best friends our senior year. She always wrote in my yearbooks, “When in heaven we don’t meet hand in hand and it gets too hot, pepsi cola hits the spot”. The night before she died, I had a dream that she was holding my hand. I know in my heart that she is smiling down at all of us in heaven waiting patiently for us all to get there.
