Maria (Mendez) Pardo


Maria M. Pardo, 79, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on December 12, 1937.
She is preceded in death by her parents Crispin Mendez and Maximina Medina, husband Fernando R. Pardo, siblings Juanita M. Medina, Felipa Mendez, and Locadia Mendez.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Emma (Sergio A.) Valdez, Sonia (Antonio) Tovar, grandchildren Milagro De Jesus Valdez, Melissa Maxine Valdez, Maria Teresa Valdez and Luis Antonio Tovar.
She was an active member at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and was involved with the Ladies of Las Teresitas. She loved working in her garden.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. There will be a funeral mass held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with burial to follow at Guillen Community Cemetery. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. (956) 350-8485

    OUR MOST SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON YOUR LOSS!! SHE WAS A NICE LADY AND SHE ALWAYS WAS SMILING. GOD HAS A BIG PLAN FOR HER. THIS PART OF HER LIFE IS DONE.SHE ANSWERED WHEN GOD TOLD HER TO COME HOME. SHE WENT AND IS ADJUSTING THE HEAVENLY HOME SHE WILL MEET U ALL WHEN GOD CALLS U ONE BY ONE HOME!!

    Estimada familia Pardo. Mi mas sentido pesame. La muerte de un ser querido es una de las experiencias mas devastadoras que puede sufrir un ser humano. A veces, la perdida pudiera parecer insoportable. Llorar puede ser una valvula de escape en sentido emocional. Dice la Biblia que “para todo hay un tiempo senalado, aun un tiempo de llorar” (Eclesiastes 3:1,4). De hecho, el propio Jesucristo “cedio a las lagrimas” cuando se aserco a la tumba de su querido amigo Lazaro, quien habia muerto hacia poco (Juan 11:33, 35). Jesus dijo: “Yo soy la resurreccion y la vida. El que ejerce fe en mi, aunque muera, llegara vivir” (Juan 11:25). La Biblia ensena que los muertos volveran a la vida. Bajo su mandato como Rey celestial, Jesucristo resucitara a una innumerable cantidad de personas para que vivan aqui en la Tierra, pero en condiciones de paz y justicia (2 Pedro 3:13).
