Manuel Maldonado, 90, of Brownsville, Texas, beloved, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Doucette, Texas on February 7, 1926.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Miguel and Margarita Maldonado; children: Carlos Maldonado and Adelfa Garza and siblings: Hector, Maria, Jose, Roberto Maldonado and Adelfa Torres. Left to cherish her memory is his loving wife Margarita, children: Melissa Maldonado, Manuel Maldonado Jr.(Noelia), Maria Maldonado, Stela Reyes, Margaret Maldonado and Rachel Maldonado along with his siblings: Arturo, Hilario and Anita Maldonado. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Manuel had the biggest heart anyone knew. He was humble, kind, and loved his family tremendously. Manuel loved Mexican music, but more than anything else loved watching his son, Manny, play his accordion. Manuel was a die-hard Texas Rangers fan and retired from General Motors Co. after 30 years. His life revolved around raising and loving his grand and great-grandchildren. He would give and sacrifice everything for his loving wife of 48 years and his family. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 1-9 pm, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. On Tuesday, January 3, 2017 there will be a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Johnny and Jamie Figueroa, Manuel Maldonado III, Rolando Garza, Itzell and Michelle Maldonado. Honorary pallbearers will be Klarissa, Mathew and Mia Maldonado. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. (956) 350-8485
