Amparo (Curiel) Alcocer


Amparo Alcocer, 88, of Brownsville, Texas devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Alice, Texas on October 6, 1928. She is preceded in death by her husband Pablo Alcocer. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Mary Elizabeth Berry, Carlos (Deborah) Alcocer, Hector (Rene Garzoria) Alcocer, and 1 sister: Hortencia (Guadalupe) Garrocho; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family will like to give special thanks to Elena Rodriguez and Ofelia Solis. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. There will be a chapel service held on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Carlos Alcocer, Ricco Alcocer, Adam Alcocer, Ulises Quiroga, Jesus Garrocho and Rene Garzoria. Honorary pallbearer will be Hector Alcocer.     This woman and her husband were the kindest, loving and generous people. Their sons were dear friends of mine growing up as a very poor kid. They always made me feel at home and helped me in any way possible. The years will never fade the memory of their kindness and goodness.

    May she rest in peace.
