Throughout his life until his last days, he had an incredible sense of humor, endearing himself to those surrounding him.
In 2007, Ray and Nancy pursued a passion for ministry and moved to south Texas where they made their home in Brownsville, TX. They settled into an over 55 resort community and enjoyed the warm weather, beaches, game playing friends, and served as Docents at Gladys Porter Zoo. Ray loved to garden and after putting in his yard, began the community garden for his neighbors.

A celebration of Ray’s mark on this world will be held at the Smith Spring Church of Christ on Saturday, August 20th at 2 p.m. with family visitation to follow.

Dear Vetter family, I am also a Vetter . I was Ray’s first cousin . My dad was Wilbert Vetter uncle Albert’s brother. I have so many good memories of Ray & Larry at our grandmas house in Tennessee City . Sherry wasn’t around at that time . I remember I always looked forward to the summers because Ray & Larry would come t stay with grandma & papa for a few days & it was always fun . Grandma would always take us fishing at the pond. As we all grew older we also grew apart & I hated that . I know what a kind & special person Ray was & I know he will be missed by his family tremendously . I will keep your family in my prayers & thoughts . I loved your dad too & will never forget him.
