Margarita Garza Mendieta, 91, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX.
Mrs. Garza was preceded in death by her husband Jesus Garza Lopez and her beloved son, Guadalupe Garza Mendieta.
Margarita Garza is survived by her son, Hector E. (Ernestina) Garza. Her 4 grandchildren: Jesus Hector (Martha) Garza, Rosa Isela Balboa Garza, Carlos (Miriam) Garza, and Graciela Garza. 7 great grandchildren: Ivan, Natalie, Pamela, Alan, Marian, Carla Paola and Sophia. She is also survived by her brother, Manuel Mendieta Vega.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 1-9 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral home and Crematory with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow to Buena Vista Burial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Hector E. Garza, Jesus H. Garza, Carlos Garza, Ivan Garza, Alan Garza, Jose Guadalupe Mendieta, Alfonso Mendieta, Regulo Mendieta and Rodolfo Guevara. I will cherish my Tia in my heart and think of all the memories I shared with her especially as a little boy growing up. Her cooking that I still crave for today and her stern ways of keeping me an honest boy will never be forgotten.
