Stephen W. Rusnak, 91, passed away peacefully in Harlingen, Texas on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Steve proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942-1946 in England, Germany and France. In 1956 he started his career with General Motors in Cleveland, Ohio and retired after 45 years as Supervisor of machine repair from GM in Anderson, IN. He and his wife spent their retirement years in N. Webster, IN and Port Charlotte, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and the love of his life, Edythe Kinkaid Rusnak to whom he was married for 56 years. He is survived by his daughters; Elizabeth R. Ormes (Duane), Kathy Barrett (Jerry), and granddaughters; Amy Tygrett, Libby Reinert (Tom), Melissa Lierman (Brad), Andrea Barrett (Cory), and 9 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Valley View Memory Care Unit and their staff along with Gentiva Hospice for their loving care of Steve over the past 2 years.
There will be a memorial service held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. with military honors at 6:30 p.m. by VFW Post 2035 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. (956) 350-8485 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans of America in San Benito, Texas.
