Rogerio “Roy†Gonzalez Sr., 76, of Brownsville, TX, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on May 16, 1939.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Hilario and Maria Muniz Gonzalez, and a brother; Santiago Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Fidelfa (Nena) Gonzalez and children; Jesus (Dolores) Gonzalez, and Rogerio “Roy†(Ramona) Gonzalez Jr., sisters; Elva Banda, Lupita Cruz, Felipa Gonzalez Garza, grandchildren; Andrew Blake Gonzalez, Simon Anthony Gonzalez, Victoria Gonzalez, and Samuel Thomas Gonzalez.

Roy was a dedicated husband, father, uncle, great-uncle and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army during 1960-1963 and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. He loved western movies and old time shows like Gunsmoke and The Beverly Hill Billie’s. His departure words were “let’s wentâ€.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 1-9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
