Virginia Joy Summers has been born into a new life after leaving this life on October 29th, 2018 at 5:13 pm.

She was born on November 20th, 1926 to Gladys Eads and Stewart Miller in Hannibal, MO. She spent her formative years in the city of Upper Arlington Upper Arlington, on the northwest side of Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Grandview High School in 1944. She then attended Stevens college where she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She attended the Ohio State University, graduating with honors with a degree in English in 1947. She was sister of the Pi Beta Phi fraternity and live there mission of friendship, intellect and integrity throughout her life. After graduation she moved to NYC where she worked as a editor and enjoyed life living at the YWCA on the lower east side. She regularly attended the social dances they organized, one night meeting the love of her life Ernie Summers.

They married then set up house in Williamsville, NY, a suburb of Buffalo. Where they enjoyed many creative endeavors, time on the family sail boat, and learned the joy of international travel. They aso raised three brilant, charming, and successful men: Michael, David and Kirk Summers.

Joy and her husband moved to Hemet, then Fallbrook, California where she worked with her husband at his CPA firm. After enjoying southern California for many years they sold their home
and travel northern america in their newly purchased fifth wheel recreational vehicle.

They settled down in Port Isabel’s Long Island village nearly thirty years ago? and traded their RV and built a retirement home there. That they filled with memories and friends.

They build on their love for travel with many memorable trips to many place like Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Central America, and South America.

Joy’s legacy is carried on by her grandchildren and great grand children who share her passion.
Her son Michael and his wife Janet gave her three wonderful grandchildren.
Diana and her husband John Dix gave four delight great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Ethan, Jacob and Avigail. Ben Summers followed in her footsteps, as he traveled the world for two years, returning with little money but many memories and experience. Joy’s insight helped guided her granddaughter, Michelle Summers, to be the tall, elegant, and self assured woman that she is today .

Her son Kirk and his wife Terry gave gave her two wonderful twin grandsons. Jordan and Josuha, who she loved with all her heart. Her niece, Katherine Stevens-Turner, who was like a daughter to her, has two wonderful children, with her husband Tom, named Joseph and Allison.
