Jose V. Valdez, 76, of Brownsville, TX, devoted father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Jose was born in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. He came to the United States at a young age and served in the United States Army.

Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalinda C. Valdez; and parents, Maurilio Valdez and Lucia Valdez.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children: Jose “Joe†(Norma) Valdez Jr., Lucia (Manuel) Martinez, Luis D. Valdez, Elvia (Juan Barrientes) Perez, and Eric A. Valdez; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters: Carlos (Sylvia) Valdez, Maria Valdez, Maria Helena Reyes, and Frank (Socorro) Valdez. He will also be missed by his numerous nieces, and nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 14 with the presentation of Military Honors at 6:30 p.m. followed by the recitation of the holy rosary service at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on 555 W. St. Francis St. on Thursday, September 15, 2016. All services will conclude at the Mass, and in accordance with Jose’s wishes cremation will follow.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 657 Springmart Blvd., 956-350-8485.
